Stagecoach North Scotland have generously donated £500 to this year’s Gift Tree Project.

The money will help to provide fresh fruit and vegetables to families in need over Christmas.

Simon Bedford, Peterhead’s Social Regeneration Development Officer with the Here For You Project, visited the Peterhead Bus Depot to accept the donation from operations manager Ian Bell on Friday, November 21.

Simon explained: “We asked for donations from local businesses and Stagecoach have very kindly presented us with £500 which is very much appreciated.

“Without donations like this we wouldn’t be able to get the fruit and vegetables required for local families in respect of healthy eating and its nutritional value.”

Simon added: “We would like to say a big thank you to all of the businesses that have donated so far.”

Speaking on behalf of Stagecoach, Ian said: “It’s important for local businesses to help with those underprivilaged in the area and we are more than happy to help.”

The Gift Tree food hamper Project has also received donations from the Don Fishing Company, Peterhead Port Authority, GMR Seafoods and Total.

Gift Trees are now available throughout Peterhead for members of the public to select a tag and purchase a Christmas gift for local children.
