Buchan Peterson band travelled to Levengrove Park, Dumbarton, on Saturday, July 26, to compete inthe Grade 2 section of The Scottish Pipe Band Championships and were awarded fourth place overall.

The main band prize went to Bleary from Northern Ireland.

Against strong opposition from Central Belt bands, Leading Drummer Brian Martin and his corps of drums came out on top and were crowned Grade 2 Scottish Champions of 2014.

Brian told us : “The win was reassuring as were playing on a new set of drums for the first time. These instruments are complex and it can take time to get them evenly pitched and nicely tuned in unison.

“The investment of over £8,000 has been worthwhile. I was really pleased with our performance and the dynamic contribution the drumming made to the overall band display”.

The new drums were manufactured in Ireland by “Andante”, and were lacquered in a custom finish to complement the band’s Buchan tartan.

The band will be performing at The North of Scotland Championships at Aden Park, Mintlaw on Sunday, August 10, before heading to Glasgow later in the week.
