St John’s Church Longside is celebrating the news that it has received a £39,936 funding boost from SITA Trust for its project to repair and refurbish the community hall.
Funding will allow the repair the exterior roof and walls of the small hall, replace the windows in the main hall and completely redecorate the interior of the hall building.
Commenting on the news, project leader and church treasurer Doug Murison said: “St John’s Church is delighted to, once again, receive support from SITA Trust in our ongoing efforts to maintain and improve our hall for the benefit of all the community groups who use it on a regular basis.”
Marek Gordon CEO and chairman of SITA Trust added “We are delighted to have been able to support this project through the Landfill Communities Fund.
“This important source of funding has been available since 1997 and in that time we have provided more than 3,600 such worthy projects with more than £100 million.”
SITA Trust urges community groups with leisure or recreation facilities in need of improvement, within ten miles of SITA UK’s Stoneyhill Landfill.
