Football fest fun for kids

Inverurie Locos Football Club, in partnership with Aberdeenshire Council’s Sports Development Officer for Disability Sport Claire Bonner, are holding a football festival at Aberdeen Sport Village for children with addition support needs for schools across Aberdeen City and Shire on March 22 from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

The festival is a great social event bringing the children from across the North-east together who face similar challenges. Football is a great game to get the children working as a team and communicating with each other.

It is also a great way of showing football can be enjoyed by all. There are also opportunities in the community to continue playing. Children who show recognised football skill can trial for the Grampian addition support needs squad who currently lead the way in Scotland.

The squad has a well establish pathway for talented footballers from regional football to international playing opportunities.

The most recent achievement coming from Stuart Gordon, Colin Knox, Michael Mortimer, Gavin Rothney and Callum Cheyne who gained selection for Scotland to play at the U19 Home Nations Championships hosted by England in April 2011.
