Food collection at Morrisons

St James’ Church, Cruden Bay will hold a collection at Morrisons Peterhead today (Friday).

Members of the church will be at the Blue Toon store until 5pm to gratefully accept food and toiletry gifts for the needy.

The church has long held food collections at the close of its weekly Sunday services, but the cry for help to put something on their table has risen even more loudly from among those without a job, struggling to pay their bills and fighting to keep a roof over their heads.

Sam Coull of St James’ Church said: “What we already give to the needy flies off food bank shelves at an amazing speed and we hope that ‘buy one get one free’ and other offers in store will help the smart shopper to help us to put something into the hands of those whose purse is either empty or contains only copper coins.”
