A new family room at Peterhead Community Hospital has been named after a League of Friends chairwoman who helped raise nearly £300,000 during her tenure.

The Rose Reid Family Room is equiped with a sofa bed and tea and coffee making facilites and will allow relatives of critically and terminally ill patients to be on hand in the hospital.

Mrs Reid was chair of the League of Friends for nearly 25 years and in that time helped the organisation raise £287,375.

The room which has been named in her honour was furnished thanks in part to a £700 donation by Nelly Bain.

Current chairwoman Joan Davidson said: “It’s thanks to people like Nelly and her family that the League is able to provide for patients and their relatives.”
