The Chairman of Peterhead’s Family History Centre is appealing for more volunteers to help visitors with their research.
The Family History Centre located in Harbour Street, is approaching its fifth birthday and during this relatively short period the Centre has become an excellent research facility.
Family historians and other heritage researchers continually utilise its 21st Century equipment, these include groups as prestigious as the BBC to the lone family researcher studying their ancestors.
The Family History Centre which boast Internet links, tens of thousands of local records and a photographic archive, which now contain thousands of local photographs, has become a considerable asset to the town.
Chairman, Alan Fakley, said: “Being open five days a week requires a fair few volunteers and these are always in great demand, hence the Family History Centre is again appealing for volunteers.
“If you are interested in family history and can spare two or three hours a week, why not pop down and see if being a volunteer suits you.
Alan added: “It is an unpaid role but teas, fancy ‘peaces’ and a claik are often available!”
If you are interested in a volunteering role or would like more information, please phone the Centre on 01779 238416.
