A PETERHEAD girl has danced her way to the top prize at a Highland Dancing Competition.
Erin Strachan won the 9 years and under, Pre-Championship section at the Tayside and North East Scotland Championship, which was held at Arbroath on June 26.
She won her section with one first place, two second places and a sixth place across the four Highland dances.
It was a very successful and emotional day for Erin as it was only her first time dancing in the Premier section as well as her first attempt at her pre-champs.
Erin is a pupil of the Slessor School of Dance in Peterhead where she started dancing at just three years of age and has been a student there for the past 6 years.
Commenting on Erin’s recent success her dance teacher, Jacqueline Slessor, told the Buchan Observer she is very proud of what Erin has achieved and she is a credit to the school.
“Winning your pre-championship is such a great achievement especially on the first attempt as some dancers can try for years before they win it. Erin works very hard in class and is dedicated to her dancing. I wish her every success for future championships,” she said.
