During a very successful inaugural Friends of Aden Country Park meeting, over twenty five members of the local community met to discuss possible developments and the potential roles that the Friends can play in Aden’s future.
The Friends of Aden Country Park group is designed to provide the local community with an opportunity to have a greater say in what goes on in their local Park and how it is developed.
Discussions at the meeting focused on a range of topics including marketing and promotion, events, activities, current facilities on offer, the overall visitor experience, along with how various developments could improve this experience.
Friends can either volunteer on site, or equally from home in other ways. There are a wide range of activities and projects that Friends can be involved with, including practical tasks like improving footpaths, tree planting, and painting buildings; helping to organise events, activities and performances; marketing and promotion; fundraising; or helping in the museum or shop.
Aden development worker Neil Shirran said: “The meeting went really well and it was clear from the discussions on the night that everyone is really passionate about Aden Country Park and are keen to help improve the Park for future generations.”
Neil added “The idea of developing the Friends group is to provide a platform for local views to be heard and to help us identify, fund, and deliver improvements in Aden Country Park.”
