A Peterhead nursery is celebrating after successfully achieving a bronze Eco-Schools award.

Hi! Class Nursery, based at Blackhouse Circle, is now one step closer to receiving a green flag which shows it is committed to looking after the environment.

Children at the nursery have been on litter picks at the beach, recycling items including cardboard, paper and food, as well as growing their own potatoes and carrots, and making sure their garden is tidy.

Nursery manager Caroline Meek told the Buchanie: “The children are delighted.

“They have been so involved with the whole process so they know what the award means.

“They deserve it as they have all worked hard.”

The nursery is now aiming to attain the silver award, which it will receive if it can show that it can reuse various items and find ways to save energy.
