A Peterhead schoolgirl has raised hundreds of pounds for charity ARCHIE after a completing a 10-mile bike ride.
Samantha Hanson (11) raised £474.50 for the HDU ward at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.
Samantha has spent time in the ward herself after she was diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes so decided to raise money for the unit by doing a sponsored bike ride.
She said: “I wanted to raise funds to provide the additional support, which ARCHIE aims to achieve for local sick children. A lot of my sponsors were friends and family, and I would like to thank everyone who sponsored me.”
Samantha’s 10-mile bike ride went from Peterhead to Aden Country Park. She cycles everyday to school so needed a small amount of training for the cycling event.
Press officer for the ARCHIE Foundation, Janine Ewen, said: “The ARCHIE Team would like to give Samantha a huge thank you.”
