Pupils put their knowledge to the test at Schools’ Quiz

The Rotary Club of Peterhead hosted the Peterhead Primary Schools’ Quiz recently.

The event was held on Monday, March 20 at the Palace Hotel.

The winning team, with a massive score of 106 out of a possible 120, was The Intellectual Beings from Buchanhaven School.

The Clerkhill Wizards were the runners up with 92 and The Brainy Bananas, also from Buchanhaven, came third with 91.

Boddam School’s team came fourth with 90, just one mark shy of third place.

A total of six schools took part, with a total of 15 teams, including three teams of reserves.

The Rotary Club of Peterhead wish to say a huge thank you to JJ and his company North East Platforms & Stagings who sponsored the event, and Robbie Emslie who generously provided the trophy, medals and certificates.

The group said: “Mick and Hilary Gordon from RC Ellon presented a great quiz once again and we are very grateful for their help and support and also thanks to all rotarians and friends who assisted on the night and all teachers, parents and friends who came along.”

A total of £241 was raised through the raffle and the money will be donated to the Ryankana Schools Project in East Africa.

The winning team from Buchanhaven School now go on to compete against other winning teams from all over Aberdeenshire and the Rotary Club of Peterhead wish them the very best of luck.

If the team is successful they will compete against teams from across Scotland.
