Instructors from the Ellon and Peterhead branches of Yee’s Hung Ga visited Anna Ritchie School earlier this year.

Their visit on Friday, January 27 was aimed at helping the pupils learn about Chinese New Year.

The experts in the traditional southern Chinese martial art spoke to the pupils about the signs of the Chinese Zodiac.

They also spread a little Eastern culture with a fun, loud and energetic ‘Lion Dance’.

The pupils were amazed and delighted as the ‘Lion’ performed the traditional dance to help bring them good luck for the year ahead.

Chinese New Year fell on Saturday, January 28 and 2017 is the year of the Rooster.

The event is a major holiday over in China with residents taking two weeks to celebrate.

The event celebrates the Lunar New Year and is also known as the Spring Festival.
