Peterhead Academy pupils braved the bad weather to undertake a sponsored walk in aid of Help for Heroes.

Student Amy Cameron (17), who’s brother Mark (20) is in the Navy, decided to help fundraise for the charity along with two of her friends Abbie Bruce (16) and Kirsty McQuillian (16).

The pupils decided instead of doing the usual prank day for their last day at school they would do something positive and hold a sponsored walk from the academy to Aden Country Park.

They had raised just under £400 already by selling the Help for Heroes wristbands and holding a fundraiser party. At Aden Park, pupils were treated to a BBQ by acting rector Tim McKay and driven back to Peterhead by the school.

The pupils said they were “chuffed by the turnout”, with Tim McKay saying: “They are absolutely brilliant. It’s a real positive end to their school career.”
