Kininmonth School near Mintlaw has welcomed their new head teacher, Mrs Briony Mair.

Mrs Mair took up her new role as head teacher in August, after working as a class teacher at Maud School for 22 years.

To introduce Mrs Mair to the community, the school is organising a soup and sweet event in November.

The event will be held at the school from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, November 29. Entry cost is £3 for adults and £1.50 for children, which will include a soup, sweet and refreshments.

There will also be a number of stalls on the day, including representatives from the Cog Wheel Trust, who will be speaking about citizenship.

Members of the community are welcome to attend the soup and sweet - including past pupils - to meet the new head teacher and have a look around the school.

Funds raised at the event will be spent on improvements to the school building.

Commenting on her first head teaching post, Mrs Mair said: “It’s a lovely community and I’ve had tremendous support from the parent body and staff.

“I’ve really enjoyed working with all the children. I’m looking forward to staying here for years to come and taking the school forward as the school has huge potential.”

Opened in 1876, Kininmonth School currently has 28 pupils from 21 families. The pupils are split between two classes - a P1-3 class and a P4-7 class.
