Work on the garden began last year and was completed by parents and staff members whenever they had spare time.

Playgroup manager, Lynsey Matheson, said: “The committee decided to make the garden so the children can learn and develop their skills outside.

“We have planted seeds and will grow our own carrots and lettuce, then once they have grown we will eat them.”

She added: “We are delighted that the children will be able to go out and learn, and we also have space for picnics.”

Eilidh Whiteford said: “I would like to congratulate the parents for everything they have done to upgrade the garden.

“It’s great to see the parents and children so excited about it.”

Alex Salmond added: “Exceptional effort has been put into the garden, the children will be able to learn a lot here and I hope they send some of their vegetables to me once they have grown.”
