NEW Deer School enjoyed success once again in this year’s Burns Federation North-east of Scotland schools competition.

The competition was held at Cults Academy in Aberdeen recently and coming out on top was Kimberley Knowles (11), who won gold for overall best P7 pupil and was judged best in the entire competition.

Rachel Gray (10), won silver, while Rebecca Kindness (10), took bronze. Other pupils, Tegan Davidson (9), Katherine-Ann Shaw (11), Shannen Crighton (12), Lynne Hemsley (9) and Eve Coutts (10), were awarded certificates for their performances in the contest.

Kimberley is now eligible to compete in the national finals of the event which will take place in Lockerbie later this year.

Head teacher, Lynn Gee, said she was extremely proud of the pupils, adding: “It was wonderful to see the girls representing the school and doing so well.”
