New Pitsligo and St Johns Primary School P 1/2 class have raised money for children in Africa. The pupils decided to raise money for the Cogwheel Trust who run a childrens home in Africa for children after learning about Africa this term.
Teacher, Gillian Stevenson, said: “After brainstorming different ideas for fundraising, the children decided to host a sponsored Zumbathon where the children and families were able to donate money to the cause. Children could make donations of up to £1 to take part in the Zumbathon.”
“The children of Room 1 wrote letters to local businesses asking for their help. We would like to thank Lovie Quarry & Concert Products, The Pitsligo Arms Hotel and Gold ‘n’ Crispy for their very kind donations. Staff members of New Pitsligo School also donated money and a total of £441.39 was raised.
“Room 1 would like to give a big shout out to Angie Urquhart who helped to organise the event and was our Zumba instructor for the day.
“I would like to say a massive well done to everyone who was involved in the event. I am completely overwhelmed by the support shown by parents, staff, pupils and the local community, who have all helped to make this fundraising event a huge success. Thank you again.”
