Pupils at a Buchan primary school will benefit from a grant of nearly £10,000 funded by the Big Lottery Fund and Sportscotland,
Boddam Primary School will receive the £9,899 from the Awards for All Scotland programme to develop their playground with Portsoy District Community Association also awarded £10,000.
Stewart Stevenson, MSP for Banffshire & Buchan Coast, said: ““I am absolutely delighted that these two groups in my constituency will benefit from Awards for All Scotland funding totalling £19,899.
“Boddam Primary School will be able to use the money to make the playground more interesting and fun for the school pupils, and Portsoy District Community Association will make a fantastic contribution to the local sporting community by replacing the AstroTurf at the community sports hub.”
Mr Stevenson added: “I wish them both all the very best as they proceed with this funding boost.”
Boddam Primary School is one of 131 projects across Scotland sharing a £1 million pot.
An Awards for All Scotland spokesperson said: “Today we are announcing over £1 million that will help communities from across Scotland set up and develop projects run for and by local people.
“What is clear is the smallest amount of funding can often make the biggest difference to people’s lives.”
Stuart Pratt, Councillor for Peterhead South and Cruden, said: “It’s absolutely fantastic and shows a good initiative that they applied for it in the first place.”
