A best-selling Scottish author visited Mintlaw Academy last month to teach pupils at the school about creative writing.

Crime-writer Craig Robertson and his partner, the American writer Alexandra Sokoloff, tried to inspire the 3rd, 4th and 6thYear pupils taught by Mrs Donald and Mrs Pye.

Mr Robertson gave the students an opening line from a novel and asked the students to write a few paragraphs which the authors both critiqued.

Several pieces of the students writing were then read aloud to the class.

The authors then took part in a question and answering session where the authors spoke of their contrasting backgrounds and experiences.
