A Peterhead community organisation handed over ownership of an allotment to a primary school on Monday to benefit local school kids.

Peterhead Community Council gave Dales Park Primary School the gardening patch which is situated just behind the primary school.

Bill Buchan, the Community Councillor behind the project, thanked local businesses in the town who had helped the project come to fruition.

He said: “They have been brilliant.

“Look at what we have done.”

He added: “We have done a good thing and we hope it will serve the school for a long time to come.”

Mr Buchan was the main architect behind the school receiving the allotment and Dales Park head-teacher, MrScott Anderson, singled the councillor out for praise.

Mr Anderson said: “We have one person that we desperately want to thank and that is Bruce.

“This has far surpassed anything that the school could have expected.”

The school also gave Mr Buchan a small gift to thank him for all the work he had put into their new allotment.
