Four students from Banff and Buchan College won a place at the Hair and Beauty National finals held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool last month.
After winning their regional heat the Level 3 hairdressing students Allison Christie, Daune Milne, Alison Thornton and Julia Piechocka spent two days competing against 1,000 finalists from 49 colleges across Britain.
Julia was awarded second place in the Ladies Commercial Cut class and third in the Skills Challenge.
Hairdressing lecturer Gail Woods said: “I am immensely proud of all of the students – it is such an achievement just to earn a place in the finals where the girls participated in three categories - the Skills Challenge, the Ladies Commercial Cut and Bridal Hair and Make -Up.
“Although it was a pressurised environment it has been a tremendous experience. The icing on the cake was when Julia was awarded second place for her outstanding asymmetrical cut and third in the Skills Challenge.
“She is a very creative and talented student.”
Julia commented: “I was delighted to be placed. This has really boosted my confidence I want to go far in hairdressing. I just want to say a big thank you to our lecturers who are so supportive.”
