The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a dog was found in an Aberdeenshire lay-by next to tins of food.

A passer-by discovered the black and white collie crossbreed dog on a rural road near Crimond, between Peterhead and Fraserburgh on the evening of Tuesday, January 7.

The male dog, estimated to be between two and three years old, is now in the care of the Aberdeenshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Drumoak, where he has been named Benson.
