Diamond day for couple

James and Mary Cumming (nee Cowie) celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday, September 8.

The couple, of 45 Cairntrodlie, Peterhead, were presented with a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of 10 year old malt whisky by councillor Stuart Pratt (Peterhead South & Cruden) on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council.

Mary has always lived in Peterhead, while James, or Jimmy as he likes to be known, is originally from New Deer. They have one son, James.

To add to the happy occasion, Mary and Jimmy’s son and daughter-in-law, James and Lorraine, celebrated their wedding anniversary on the very same day, September 8.

Jimmy worked as as undertaker with Jimmy Davidson and then Robert Mackie. Mary worked at Cross and Blackwell.

Mary and Jimmy’s daughter-in-law Lorraine said: “They thoroughly enjoyed their anniversary. They said afterwards that having councillor Pratt and the Lord Lieutenant to visit made their day.”
