Woman’s body found in town

Police are investigating the death of a 36-year-old woman after a body was found in a flat in Peterhead.

Officers made the discovery when they were called to the address in Crossfolds Crescent on Sunday.

A police spokeswoman said the death is being treated as “unexplained” but is “not believed to be suspicious”.

A statement said: “Police Scotland can confirm that we were called to an address in Crossfolds Crescent at around 1.40pm on Sunday following the discovery of the body of a 36-year-old female.”

Two police officers remained at the property into Sunday evening as a third carried out checks at the rear of the building. An unmarked silver police Ford Focus was also seen at the address, halfway along the residential street.

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

No further information about the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death is available at this time.
