Sex Offenders Register for teen

A 17-YEAR-OLD who was charged with sexual offences and committing a breach of the peace has been put on the Sex Offenders Register for three years.

Steven Anderson was under the influence of alcohol according to witnesses when he exposed himself to five underage girls at Peterhead Academy car park on August 26.

He repeatedly pulled down his trousers and underwear and asked the girls to perform oral sex on him.

Later the same day along the railway line near Ravenscraig Road, Anderson and a friend walked behind two girls who had witnessed the earlier incident.

Anderson acted in a threatening and abusive manner singing: “I’m going to rape you.”

The friend of Anderson had tried to stop him according to the girls one of whom is only 12 years old. One of the girls told her mum about the incident when she arrived home and Anderson was later traced and detained on September 1.

Defence agent for Anderson, Iain Jane, said: “Mr Anderson had drunk a large amount of alcohol and has very little recollection of the incident.

“He accepts that his behaviour was totally unacceptable and inappropriate and is genuinely embarrassed and remorseful. He is a first time off

“ender and fully understands the seriousness of his actions.”

At Peterhead Sheriff Court on Thursday Sheriff William Summers said: “Your behaviour on the 26th of August clearly caused a lot of stress and is a matter of concern. I have listened very carefully to this case and balanced a lot of factors and with some hesitation I am not going to impose a custodial sentence.”

Anderson was given 300 hours of unpaid work and a Sexual Offenders programme was imposed for two years as well as an Alcohol Treatment order for 12 months.

He is also subject to supervision for three years as well as being on the Sex Offenders Register for three years.
