Police update on local services

Police Scotland began a process of consultation on December 10, 2014 to consider proposals from the Divisional Commanders in the North East to restructure local policing in the Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire and Moray local policing areas.

The proposal’s key aims were to sustainably strengthen local policing in those areas and increase consistency in the provision of the service provided to those communities.

At the outset of this process, Police Scotland highlighted the importance of consulting with the community, as well as engaging with staff and external partners to test locally that the benefits proposed were both supported and understood.

Divisional Commanders involved would like to continue their consultation on a small number of local issues to ensure that any future decisions are based on the strongest possible foundation.
