A PETERHEAD pensioner has appeared in court charged with collecting and distributing indecent images of children.
Leslie Walker (78), said it was “sexual curiosity” that drove him to collect more than 300 photographs of children over a two-year period, 76 of which were classed as category four, just one level away from the most serious type.
Police raided Walker’s home on October 3 2010, seizing a computer which was found to contain the 335 images of children.
Fragments of sexually motivated online chats between adults and children were also found.
Fiscal Alasdair Fay said: “Images had been sent on to other online users on three occasions. The age range of the children in the pictures was between one and 14 years.”
A man was seen to walk out of the court in Peterhead during the hearing and a woman later left in tears.
Walker told police that he had “no recollection” of receiving “that many” photographs.
Walker was released on bail pending psychological assessment and will return to court on July 26. He must also sign the sex offender’s register.
