FIRE-raisers have targeted wheelie bins at Peterhead’s Lido Caravan Park.
Grampian Police are investigating several suspicious blazes started at the popular becah facility during the early hours of Saturday, June 11.
The incident occurred shortly before 1am and involved fires being set within four wheelie bins causing extensive damage to a plastic bin.
Enquiry officer PC Malcolm Grant is appealing for witnesses and specifically from any youths who were in the area at the time.
PC Grant said: “ This area of Peterhead is utilised by tourists and local visitors to Peterhead and plays a prominent role in the local economy so the wanton act of setting fires within a residential caravan park is unacceptable.
“We know that a group of youths were within the area of the caravan park and that the majority were not involved in this incident.
“But to assist with our enquiries I am keen to trace a male youth with short black hair who was wearing a blue hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.
“I am also looking to trace a female youth who had long blonde hair and was wearing a pink hooded top.”
Grampian Fire and Rescue attended at the scene and ensured that the fires were extinguished along with the assistance of a resident who had utilised the available fire fighting equipment to put out two of the fires.
