Police Scotland can confirm that the man who died following a one vehicle road traffic collision on the A950 south of New Pitsligo on Saturday, January 10 was Lee McClure.

Lee was 23-years-old and lived in the Portlethen area of Aberdeenshire.

Investigations into the collision are continuing and police ask that anyone with information or who may have seen Lee’s vehicle, a silver Vauxhall Astra, prior to the collision to contact them.

Lee’s family have released the following statement: “Lee was well loved by family and friends and we are devastated that he has been taken from us.

“Lee moved from Ayr to Portlethen for work and worked in Aberdeen as a hydraulic engineer.

“He was a keen and skilled footballer and enjoyed playing very much.

“We will miss him dearly.”

Lee’s car went off the road just south of New Pitsligo and he was alone in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The road was closed for five hours while police officers started investigations.
