Appeal for information on cemetery vandalism

Police are appealing for information in relation to a spate of vandalism and anti-social behaviour at Peterhead Cemetery.

In recent weeks vandals have daubed graffiti on cemetery walls, all of which has subsequently been removed.

Local Sergeant Scott Massie said: “Vandalism and anti-social behaviour in any shape or form is not wanted in our communities, nor will it be tolerated.

“Targeting a cemetery is completely unacceptable and I don’t think I need to stress the distress that can be caused to families and friends visiting. Much time and expense has also been wasted removing the graffiti in question.

“I would ask that anyone with information about anti-social behaviour they have noticed in the area to please contact your local station on 101. If you want to remain anonymous, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
