Heroin and cocaine with a street value of £2000 has been recovered in the Peterhead and Fraserburgh areas.

Five men aged 54, 33, 32, 24 and 21 have been charged in relation to the incident in which a low three-figure sum of cash was also recovered.

The recoveries were made in Peterhead and on the A90 near Fraserburgh yesterdsay, Thursday September 29, by the Community Policing Team and the Divisional Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit.

Sergeant Graeme Cupples said: "This was a joint operation involving officers from the Community Policing Team as well as the Divisional Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit.

"We are committed to tackling drugs in our communities and will continue to proactively target those who wish to spread misery by dealing drugs.

"Anyone with concerns about drug misuse in their area should call Police on 101 or if they wish to remain anonymous the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

The men are anticipated to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court today, Friday September 30.
