A Peterhead woman has been selected from more than 100 applicants to be in the line-up of 24 models for one of the area’s most iconic fashion shows.
Linsey Donnelly (30), will make her debut model appearance at Courage on the Catwalk’s tree live shows on May 7 and 8 at Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom.
In November 2012, Linsey received the devastating news that she had breast cancer. By December of that year she had a mastectomy before beginning a gruelling course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment.
Linsey said: “For me losing my fight with cancer was never an option. The doctors and nurses in the ANCHOR Unit were so positive all the way through my cancer journey and I strongly believe that helped me find the strength that I needed.”
Just days after her first chemotherapy session, Linsey was proposed to by her two-year long boyfriend, Martin. Despite being in the midst of her treatment, Linsey turned her energy to planning her wedding. After losing her hair during her chemotherapy treatment, she was delighted to wear her tiara and veil with her own hair when the couple tied the knot in 2014.
A former teacher, Linsey, has turned her focus onto training for her runway appearance in just two weeks’ time.
She added: “I’m definitely excited about it but the nerves are slowing creeping in as the event draws closer.
“When I first applied back in January, Courage on the Catwalk seemed miles away and now it’s just round the corner. I know it’s going to be great fun and I can’t wait to get all glammed up before I take to the runway for the very first time.”
