Peterhead Burns Club members said a fond farewell to one of their longstanding stalwart committee members recently.

After 23years serving as club treasurer, Norman Bain retired from his office at this year’s annual general meeting which was held on March 10.

Norman’s long-running, unfailing attention to not only the financial affairs of the club but as a staunch member of the committee, was recognised on the night by the members.

He was presented with of a scroll bestowing on him an Honorary Life Membership of the club.

The scroll, which was accompanied by a bottle of Norman’s favourite whisky, was handed over on behalf of Peterhead Burns Club by the club’s Honorary Secretary, Hugh Livingston and the present committee chairman and supper croupier Gerry Smith.

Both men expressed the sincere appreciation of all members for all Norman’s contributions to the well being of the club throughout the past 23 years.
