Cllr encouraged by survey results

Independent Peterhead South and Cruden By Councillor Tom Malone has said he is ‘encouraged’ by the results of the town centre survey.

Results showed that although residents are visiting Peterhead town centre less, there is an appetite for new development.

Councillor Malone said: “The issue of the town centre is very close to my heart.

“My election campaign was really based on the need for town centre regeneration so the survey was very welcome and timely but no it didn’t demonstrate any surprises.

“I’m hugely encouraged by the public response. The town centre needs to be sufficiently attractive for local people to want to visit, for the private sector to want to invest in it and for visitors to come and visit the town.

“If we want quality brands to be introduced, it has to be attractive for them.”
