Christmas decorations to come down

Peterhead’s Christmas lights and tree are to be removed this weekend.

Shirley Duthie of the Light Up Peterhead group confirmed this week that she had been in touch with the company who erected the festive display and that they would be removing the lampost and banner lights on Saturday.

The Christmas tree in Drummer’s Corner will also be removed once the lights - which were vandalised just hours after light-up - have been disconnected.

A meeting will be held in the town’s Albert Hotel on Thursday at 7.30pm to discuss this year’s festive display and it is hoped that as many people as possible will come along.

If you can’t manage to attend the meeting, ideas for the display are being sought via the Buchan Observer’s Facebook page.
