Peterhead offshore food and catering distributor Strachans have donated money to two worthy causes.

The Windmill Street based company started a charity committee last year and they asked members of staff to put forward nominations for charities in each of their three depots.

The charities chosen for Peterhead were Pound for Piper and The Archie Foundation.

Their Aberdeen base chose Cash for Kids and the John Grant School was selected in Great Yarmouth.

One of Strachan’s Peterhead managers, Iain Troup, also ran the London Marathon and took part in IRONMAN Wales for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Over all three depots, Strachans staff managed to raise just over £10,000 in a year. Peterhead depot staff held various fundraising activites including a race night, Christmas raffle, bag pack. quiz nights, sponsored weight loss and dress down Fridays, where staff choosing to come to work in casual clothes had to donate £1.

Carol Banks accepted the donation on behalf of Pound for Piper and said: “We are really greatful for all the work Strachans have done for us.”

Peterhead staff have chosen Cornerstone and MS Scotland as their 2015 charities.
