Buchan Peterson Pipe Band are set to kick off their 2014 season on a high note as they travel to Bathgate on Saturday (May 31) for The British Pipe Band Championship.
They go there with a high level of expectation in defence of their title as Champions of Grade 2 in 2013.
Pipe Major Scott Oliphant, who hopes to receive an award from Chieftain on the day, singer Susan Boyle, said: “The second grade is a much tougher arena this year as we are joined by bands leaving the top flight.
“We cannot afford to rest on our laurels and there has been a lot of hard work by band members through the winter months polishing up our repertoires.”
Scott added: “We are in good shape and will certainly hold our own.”
Buchan Peterson Pipe Band were crowned Grade 2 World Pipe Band Champions in Glasgow last year and although the band has its roots firmly in Peterhead, it draws its members from across the North-east.
