A local church is to hold a summer school for primary-age children next month.
St Andrew’s Church on Queen Street, Peterhead is to organise the summer school from 10am to 1pm every day between Monday July 2 and Friday July 6. The club is free and open to all Primary 1 to 7 pupils.
The week of activities, centred around a programme called The Champion’s Challenge, will be held inside the church and will include games, crafts, DVDs and dancing - all based on the theme of the Olympics.
The organisers of the summer school hope the week of events will help those who attend to develop vital life skills including team work and listening to others.
Once the activity mornings are over, there will be a picnic for all those who attended during the week at Aden Country Park from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday July 7.
Then, on Sunday July 8 there will be a prize-giving during a service at St Andrew’s Church at 11am to celebrate the group’s achievements during the week.
Rev. Dr. Abi Ngunga, who is to be one of the summer school group leaders said, “The summer school last year was a great success and we are hoping this year will be even better. There will be lots of fun activities on offer”.
He added, “We welcome everyone to come along to the events, to register children just need to turn up on the day”.
