A public meeting about the future of Peterhead’s Lord Catto Park will be held at Balmoor Stadium on Tuesday, June 3 from 7pm.
Consultancy group PMR Leisure are inviting residents of the town to ‘come along and have your say on the potential future development at Catto Park.’
The project, which will be jointly funded by Peterhead FC and Aberdeenshire Council, will see a new sporting an community ‘hub’ built at the site.
A working group representing various organisations from Peterhead hopes the project will become a new heart of the community with indoor and outdoor facilities.
The project has not proved universally popular with some residents expressing concerns about the loss of green space in the town.
The meeting will give residents from across Peterhead the opportunity to air their support or concern and ask questions about the proposed development.
The Buchanie understands the working group are close to agreeing final plans and now must turn their attention to funding.
Architectural firm Michael Laird Architects presented a number of plans to the group and the designs incorporate elements which were agreed at earlier public consultaion.
These include synthetic pitches for football and hockey, a revamped athletics track, a boxing gym as well as a ‘community learning enviroment.’
A centrepiece of the project is a new integrated facility for the Willowbank adult training centre.
