A Blue Toon trawler skipper and television star has launched an online business supplying fresh Scottish seafood direct to consumers.
Jimmy Buchan, who found fame in the BBC series Trawlermen, has set up his internet enterprise, Skipper’s Choice, to allow people across the UK the chance to buy premium wild-caught Scottish fish.
Mr Buchan said: “What makes Skipper’s Choice different from other online seafood suppliers is that we’re not fishmongers.
“With my team, I will be drawing on my personal experience and knowledge to select the contents of every box.
“This new venture is entirely online and allows customers anywhere in the UK to sample some of the very best fish that Scotland has to offer.”
Skipper’s Choice will sell the catch from Mr Buchan’s own trawler, Amity II, as well as sourcing seafood from other local skippers he knows after 40 years experience working out of his home port of Peterhead.
Fish that will not be wild-caught are the salmon fillets, which Skipper’s Choice will take from selected West Coast freedom farms.
Mr Buchan added: “I am passionate about the Scottish fishing industry, and Skipper’s Choice is my way of spreading the word about the quality of the seafood we harvest and process in Scotland — particularly in Peterhead, which is Europe’s biggest white fish port.”
