A well-known Strichen butcher has added to their collection of trophies after picking up two awards in just over a month.

Bert Fowlie’s came joint first in the Evening Express’ Butcher of the Year awards at the end of October before receiving the Pride of Buchan award on Tuesday.

Hebbie Fowlie, owner of Bert Fowlie, received the Pride of Buchan award in front of the Buchan Area Committee.

He said: “This is a really great award for us.

“We are very lucky that this is our 60th year in business.”

Bert Fowlie’s is a family butcher that has been passed down through the family for generations.

Hebbie joked while receiving the award that he already had his young grandson in baking to carry on the family tradition.

The Pride of Buchan award was presented to Hebbie by Councillor Stuart Pratt, head of the Buchan Area Committee, who has said that the award is given to people who have gone that extra mile and proven that the Buchan area is a good place to live and work.

The other joint winner of the Butcher of the Year was Donald Russell from Inverurie.
