Peterhead RNLI received a donation from a supplier to the Farstad Shipping company, and the crew of the Far Strider at Peterhead recently.

The Far Strider is one of the ships of the Farstad Shipping company.

Helen Van Hirch Eriksen of Proactima, Norway, and John R Maxwell, Managing Director of Farstad Shipping Ltd came to Peterhead lifeboat station to pass on the donations to Peterhead RNLI on Thursday, June 13.

Helen said: “Although we are a Norwegian company we have a very high regard for the RNLI in the UK as it is an organisation that totally relies in donations from the public.

Helen continued: “We are a company who supports the safety culture in Farstad Shipping Ltd, and as Peterhead lifeboat had carried out a service for the company in 2011 we felt it appropriate to donate to this cause.”

John R Maxwell also donated a cheque from the crew of the Far Strider in recognition of a service of a medical evacuation carried out in December 2011 during one of the biggest storms to hit all of the UK at that time.

Video footage of the Medivac can be seen on the Peterhead lifeboat station website at http://www.peterheadlifeboat.co.uk/launches.html.
