Ploughing on despite conditions

MORE than 50 competitors battled it out in the annual charity vintage ploughing match organised by the Rotary Club of Peterhead and Buchan Vintage Tractor Club.

Hosted by Neil Godsman at Dunston Farm, Mintlaw, the fifth annual match was blessed with fine weather after a week of rain and wind, with the ploughers rising to the challenge of the heavy conditions to produce some superb results. Winners were as follows:

Single Furrow

1 Derek Duguid, Macduff, 2 Neil Cameron, Turriff,3 Bob Shepherd, Inverurie

Double Furrow Class A

1 Bert Robertson, Crimond, 2 D. Smith, Crimond, 3 Robbie Clark, Crimond

Double Furrow Class B

1 Raymond Ewan, Dyce, 2 Harvey Sutherland, Kingswells, 3 D. Morrison, Sandhaven

Trailing

1 Davie Milton, Keith, 2 G. Hepburn, Elgin, 3 Raymond Turriff, Longside

Both organisations wish to sincerely thank everyone who bought a raffle or concert ticket and the following companies for their continued, valued support and without whose help the clubs would not have achieved the magnificent sum to-date of £5,100, which will be shared among local and Rotary International charities.
