PeterhEAD travel shop manager Georgina Robinson has been chosen as a finalist in Scotland’s Modern Apprenticeship Awards.
Georgina, 22, joined travel giants Thomson in 2009 after working in a shop, as a waitress and as a nursery nurse. She regularly exceeded her sales targets and was made assistant manager of the Marischal Street shop while she was still a travel services Modern Apprentice.
Georgina achieved 100 percent pass rates in online exams and has taken every opportunity to improve her knowledge and performance with training courses on everything from customer service to financial controls. She was recently promoted to manager and is now part of Thomson’s in-house management training scheme.
She has been chosen as a finalist in the Service Apprentice of the Year for Under 25s category.
Georgina said: “I feel really proud and excited to be chosen and I was not expecting it. I have heard it is quite a big bash so it will be good to get my gladrags on but I’m nervous as there will be lots of important people there.”
Running since 2001, the Awards received a record number of entries this year and are the highlight of the year for many of Scotland’s businesses and their hardworking apprentices.
All of the finalists will travel to Glasgow’s Science Centre on Wednesday, November 21 for the Awards.
