The recently opened Home Bargains store at Balmoor Retail Park has had a phenomenal first few weeks with customer numbers far exceeding staff expectations.

The new store opened on Saturday, July 27 and Assistant Store Manager, Julie Clark, admitted it was a sight she hadn’t seen for quite a while as she said: “It was very manic, a bit like when there was only one supermarket in the town years ago.

“Our customers were packed around the aisles but it was a huge success.”

The positive response from residents took Julie by surprise as she explained: “Before we opened I thought it would be pretty busy but nothing like what it actually was, it was crazy.”

Store Manager, Thomas Serafin, said feedback from customers has been positive since opening three weeks ago: “We have had to apologise to customers for queuing as we only have five checkouts but they are all very understanding and they know we try our hardest to bring our bargains to them.”

Julie added: “We are busiest at the weekends but we still get lots of customers in during the week.”

Joe Morris, Operations Director at Home Bargains, said: “We’re delighted with the response we’ve had from customers at our new store in Peterhead.

“Our opening day was a great success and there has been a really positive reaction from local people.

“Balmoor Retail Park is already proving to be a brilliant location for us.

“We’re thrilled to be in a position to offer people in Aberdeenshire top-branded goods at the lowest prices possible.”

Three weeks after the store opened, business is still booming for Home Bargains and free car park spaces can be a challenge to find, proving the store’s presence in the town has been given a warm welcome by residents.

The Peterhead store has been so busy, it is currently awaiting a delivery of more shopping baskets and trolleys to cope with increasing customer demand.

Home Bargains is open seven days a week and has a large range of home essentials at bargain prices including health and beauty products, toys, seasonal items, household products and various food and drink items.
