Fisheries experts from around the world will descend on Aberdeen this week as it plays host to a major global fisheries economics conference.

The International Institute of Fisheries Economics and Trade (IIFET) 2016 conference attracts leading fisheries economists and other social scientists, managters and industry representatives in their hundreds.

The conference runs from July 11 to 15 and around 400 delegates from around the world are expected to attend.

An Industry and Policy day has been arranged on July 13 with a focus on the Landing Obligation and seafood markets which, in the wake of the EU referendum, is likely to spark some fresh debate about the future of the UK seafood industry.
