PETERHEAD father and son, Stewart and Scott Wood, have raised more than £1,000 for Friends of Anchor and Peterhead Scouts.

Last year they held a similar concert with Herman’s Hermits to raise funds for people with kidney problems after Stewart’s wife had kidney disease.

This inspired family friend June Dickie to hold the concert again this year but in aid of cancer as her father died of the disease.

The father and son team encouraged June to set up the event this year. Money from the concert went to the cancer charity ANCHOR and the local Scout group which Stewart and Scott are involved in.

June said: “We just thought let’s go for it. Every little helps and it was near the anniversary of my father passing so it was good timing too. My dad liked a night out and a dram so he would have enjoyed the night.”

June’s father John sadly died at the age of 71 last year and was a farmer all his life. Many local farmers were willing to help and give prizes for the raffle held at the concert.

Friends of Anchor PR and fundraising manager Sarah-Jane Milne and Scout leader Derek Donald received cheques at the Palace Hotel where the concert was held last month.

The group hopes to organise a similar event next year with Herman’s Hermits.
