The Albert Hotel in Peterhead may be on the market but it is onward and upward as far as the current owner and her team of staff are concerned.

Terry Moran took over at the hotel 16 years ago and has provided lots of people good and secure employment over the years and she believes their loyalty and dedication has resulted in a successful and somewhat unique business.

Al Flett has joined George Hopkins in the kitchen to continue the good work and high standards of the hotel.

Al has previously worked at the Tufted Duck, Palace Hotel and Waterside Inn.

Young trainee Liam McRuvie has also joined the kitchen on a part-time basis.

Liam went to the Albert Hotel for work experience from Peterhead Academy and Terry awarded him top marks in every category when completing Liam’s assessment.

The kitchen team are currently finalising menus for the festive season as bookings for Christmas parties begin.

Regarding the sale of the hotel Terry said: “I love my working life with a passion, but now I would quite like to enjoy life without running at 100mph.

“I was very important that I put the business up for sale whilst I still loved it and it was not a chore.

“I appreciate that the economy is tougher just now and not an ideal time for selling, but when the time is right someone will take it on.

“In the meantime I am delighted that I am still enjoying wonderful times with my staff and customers and look forward to a busy second half of the year.”
