Plans for the redevelopment of Peterhead’s Lord Catto Park took another step forward last week with a key working group meeting.

The Catto Park Working group, made up of officials from Peterhead FC as well as Peterhead Academy, Aberdeenshire Council and others, held the first meeting of 2014 on Wednesday, February 5.

Appointed architectural firm Michael Laird Architects presented a number of plans to the group and the Buchanie understands the group are very close to agreeing a design.

A spokesperson for PMR Leisure, the consulting firm working on the project, said: “Over the next few weeks further work on developing the designs and elecations will take place and it is hoped within the next couple of months the group will be able to share the designs with the community.”

The designs will incorporate elements which were agreed with public consultation, including synthetic pitches for football and hockey, a revamped athletics track, a boxing gymas well as a ‘community learning enviroment.’

A centrepiece of the project is a new integrated facility for Willowbank.
